CLARKLAND FARM SHEEP HERDING DEMONSTRATIONS

Come and see how sheep dogs do their work around the farm. On a good working farm it is very important that the flocks and the pastures be managed properly. Lambs must be sorted from the ewes; flocks must be sold at the auction; pastures must not be overgrazed. This list of reasons you have to move the sheep flock goes on and on.

Contrary to popular belief farm operations must flow swiftly and without incident. Good farmers always must maximize the use of time. There are endless tasks that must be done. You can never get ahead. All you can do is your very best to care for every thing. Farmers are realist and know that if things are not taken care of properly you will have troubles in the future.

Good sheep dogs are critical to having a good sheep operation. Clarkland Farms shepherdess Janet Harvey  is a master shepherdess who runs the sheep operation at Clarkland Farms. Janet is responsible for all the tasks related to the sheep operation.

Clarkland Farms sheep herding demonstration is designed to provide an overview of how sheep are moved from field to field as well as how they are managed around the sheep pens where so much of the care for the herd takes place.
