Corn Harvesting October 2002
When the corn is hard and dry in late October or November,
a Combine is used to cut the corn. It also removes the corn from the cob and stores it until it is loaded in a dump truck.
The Dump truck carries the corn to the silo where it will be stored to sell or for animal feed.
An Auger is hooked up to a tractor to move the corn up a long chute to the top of the silo where it is dumped inside. Sometimes adjustments must be made to get the corn where you want it inside the silo.
Don volunteered to go to the top to make sure it was falling correctly.
